So I just go the wife a pair of Airpods.

We paired them to her iPhone and they worked like magic. She loves them-- good job Apple :)

NOW, they were purchased primarily for her to use on her work computer from home. So, I paired them with her Windows PC with the normal bluetooth setup and they appear to have paired just fine. I can hear the PC's audio perfectly.

However, no matter what I do I cannot get the Airpods' microphone to work on the PC.

I did a search on the net, but the results don't look promising--and its pretty bad that after a year of release Microsoft hasn't gotten this figured out driver-wise.

Has anybody successfuly gotten the Airpods mic to work on a PC?

I'd hate to have to return these :(

Thanks!

I'm curious about this as well because I see mixed reviews online. Unfortunately I dont have a Windows 10 machine with bluetooth to test it out.

I had an issue in the past with bluetooth profiles and Win10. The headset I used connected using A2DP and by default the would dont use HFP so the mic didn't work. I can't remember how I did it but I was able to make it work at the expense of not using A2DP.

Click on the volume icon on the desktop and change it to the headset profile.
Thanks!

1) Change from what, to 'headset' ?

and does doing so:

2) Allow both the mic and audio to work in tandem?

3) Degrade audio quality to 'unusable' quality?
