Jaybird X2s have been critically adored. Waterproof, longer battery life (everything else, we don't yet know about the Airpods). Excellent stay-in-ear design even during rough exercise.

The X3s are just coming out now, so the X2s are crashing in price: I've seen them for under $99. The X1s were also pretty damn good: you can grad those for $40 in someplaces now, which is an insane bargain.

I have the Bragi Dash, which I bought for using with my watch / iphone/ ipad. It's a good thing that they work with the iphone, because they don't (yet!) work with the watch....and I wish I'd know that first.
However, even knowing that, I'm glad I bought the Dash, and Bragi are working on the update to make them work with the watch....

I got the Bose wireless earphones. I find the sound quality to be comparable to Bose wired earphones, and Bose has an app that makes pairing and switching among multiple devices very easy and convenient. Not quite as seamless as AirPods will be with Apple devices, but great improvement over earlier methods of using Bluetooth earphones with multiple devices.

What so frustrates me about Apple's risible failure to release the AirPods on time is that there are literally no other wireless headphones I want.

I used to dream about wireless EarPods because -- for me -- nothing is as comfortable. I don't want huge on or over ear headphones, nor do I want something that sticks into my ear canal.

Apple's design was a bit kooky, but it was otherwise exactly what I was looking for.

I still don't understand how a company with access to so much money and so much talent can be seemingly so incompetent.

Love my Bose Sound Sport Wireless, they don't close your ear off where you cant here what's happening around you, can't make em fall out while trail running. Connect to two devices at once. Don't know there in your ear and I use them for hours. I'm just glad someone on here told me about them.

Received my Byron Bt today and i am more then happy.
They feel good with their aluminium body and fit my ear really well, no chance of slipping away/out.
The sound is nice balanced and not that bass overdrive that some others have.
Also a nice feature is the magnetic back on each so you can clip them together as a chain around your neck when not using.

Really can't compare other bluetooth headphones to the apple pods unless they're 2 earbuds and cordless. Otherwise it's a completely different user experience.

That being said I've been eyeballing these and they're rated 4 out of 5 stars:
