My AirPods work great except when I'm on a phone call. I periodically (every 15-30 seconds) hear a popping noise from both buds. It's almost like someone is going "PPP" into the microphone of the phone. Does anyone else experience this issue?

The only faint pop I hear is when they're not in use but when I talk (to others/myself). I think it's the microphone activating upon recognising my voice.

Mostly I hear it on prerecorded messages like voicemails. I don't notice it as much when I'm talking. I also hear it when others speak on a conference call. I wonder if I should call Apple.

I talk to my wife iphone to landline. She says they are very clear, sound great. No noise.

I find the audio on movies very good too.

Clete2, I just picked up a set of AirPods last week and am having the exact same issue. Popping/cracking sounds during phone conversations.

Did you end up exchanging yours or did something else fix the issue?

I had a similar issue, I’ve noticed that it happened only for a few seconds and only when calling over FaceTime, normal calls were fine. I used to have iPhone 6 Plus when that issue occurred. I think it’s fine now since switching to iPhone X .
