wasn't it $153.99 for Black Friday?

Starting with the overall best Black Friday AirPods deal: you can get the AirPods Pro 2 for $154.00 today on Amazon, down from $249.00. This is just $1 away from the all-time low price.

My 94 year old mom with somewhat more than moderate hearing loss has found that the new hearing aid option of the Airpods Pro 2 helps her hear things significantly better, including conversations, so when she's wearing them, we don't have to raise our voices nearly as much, if at all. And she can keep the living room TV's volume turned down to almost normal so we're not blasted out by it. I tried them on after I got them running as hearing aids for her, and I found it definitely amplifies things pretty well. We're not sure yet if it's an adequate replacement for real hearing aids, since we activated this option only in the past few days.

That said, we're seeing intermittent odd issues, like the APP2 intermittently connecting automatically to my iPhone where I performed the setup, even after I've disconnected them from the iPhone in the Settings app, so that when the iPhone plays sounds, she sometimes hears them. I can't tell my iPhone to forget these AirPods, even though I don't plan to use them with my iPhone, since this would prevent me from fine-tuning the hearing aid options for my Mom. Also, the battery runtime of only about four hours is inconvenient.

Try bluetooth settings -> airpods -> forget device. I would try that AFTER fine-tuning.

You could also try the "Connect to this iPhone" settings to "When last connected to this iPhone"

This same $154 deal started a few days ago, and it continues but not for much longer past Cyber Monday I guess. Walmart has the same price. Target and Best Buy have raised it to $169.99 already.

I don't suppose the hearing aid support can be set up from an iPadOS 18.2 or an Android 14 device, can it?
Also, 4 hours doesn't sound great, but given how cheap they are compared to "real" hearing aids, even the over the counter ones, if one set works you could definitely just buy a second pair to keep in their box as backup and still save a lot.

I ordered a set for my mother-in-law, after showing her the new Apple ad for them. Like your mom, my mother-in-law has just enough hearing loss that it’s effecting her interacting with us, made worse by her also speaking more softly. And don’t get me started with the tv sound level - I had no idea our tv could get that loud when she’s watching the news.

I’ll be sure to help her set them up on her iPhone, not mine, so she doesn’t have any connectivity issues.

My mom mentioned this deal and the hearing aid function, she read me the $154 price on amazon and I said yup that's the one, but I didn't vet the order she placed. Yesterday she received the empty charging case and says there is another tracking number for the airpods themselves?? WTAF? Did that happen to anyone here that actually ordered these?

Me too but a week before delivery (Amazon) includes Applecare - at least I got a doc from Amazon saying that activation for Applecare will happen when the pods ship.

😂 well that's a helluva scam. can't be from amazon.

I got mine Amazon last bight. Set up this morning and monkeying around with them all day and STILL gan't get phone to ring through them. My prescription hearing aids do plus a gonzo set of ear buds I bought last May. What's up? Walking into Apple Store 9 AM tomorrow. With hearing aids, Gonzos, and Ear Pod 2 Pro.

I think they last up to 6 hours.
