Got myself the AIrpods Pro 2 and wearing them for about 2 days the shape of the bud has made my right ear pretty sore. It's something in the way that it pushes against the bottom of my ear well. My wife said that she has the same experience. Right ear only. Left ear is OK. If I pull it out a bit, it alleviates the pain, but then it fits pretty loose in the ear and falls out.

My original style airpods didn't have this pain.

Anyone else have this issue? I thought maybe it's something that goes away after you break it in a bit. Kind of like how shoes can be painful when you first wear them, until you break them in.

Considering returning them and just getting the non-Pro ones. I've tried the different tips to see if it makes a difference and it's the same.

I have a similar problem to yours, but the issue is more to do with my left ear instead of my right ear, but both of them do get sore after 20 minutes of use.

Some say it does go away after you “break it in a bit”, so you might be lucky and the pain goes away/you get used to it, but for me, it hasn’t.

I constantly have pain while using them, regardless of what size of tips are being used. I even bought third-party tips and it didn’t solve it. You can give that shot, but YMMV.

I think the shape of AirPods pro is just incompatible with me. I have used beats X and wired EarPods, I never had any fitting issues or experienced pain with them.

End of the day. Only you will know if it’s compatible with your ears and what you can tolerate. If you feel they are causing you too much discomfort, you might as well return them.

I know it’s easier said than done. In terms of performance of transparency/ANC modes, seamless switching between my Apple products and microphone quality. I want to love them and keep them, but I knew deep down it wasn’t compatible for me if it was causing too much pain for me.

If anyone else has suggestions for an alternative to AirPods Pro, I am happy to hear them.
