Got my new Airpods Pro 2 from my local Apple Store yesterday. "Hey Siri" isn't working. Everything is set up correctly as my original Airpods Pro work just fine with "Hey Siri."

I've restarted my phone (14 Pro Max) and reset the Airpods Pro twice. "Hey Siri" will work a few times, then it quits. Really frustrating.

Any advice or ideas?

EDIT: "Hey Siri" seems to work until the first time you disconnect from the phone. Upon subsequent connection, no joy.

I had the same issue and figured out the problem. You have to enable ”Allow Siri When Locked” in the settings.

I'm seeing similar problems. Sometimes the AirPods Pro 2 just won't do any siri actions. They ignore "Hey Siri" and even if I configure the button for Siri, the OS doesn't seem to hear anything. I also am unable to dictate text messages via the microphone icon by the keyboard. But, voice iMessage works, as does Voice Recorder.

And sometimes they work fine.

No clue what the root cause may be here. Haven't been able to narrow it down.

Opened a case with Apple. They are generally useless unfortunately. Hoping this sorts itself out in 16.1.

I did try to repro on my iPad running 15.7 but have not been able to.

I'm also having this issue, as well as Siri no longer announcing notifications. A reboot fixes it for the first connection but if you put the AirPod Pro 2 earbuds back in the charging case and then reconnect them it no longer works.

I was having this same issue until just now. "Hey Siri" would not work with just the left pod, but it did with the right. Putting them both in work as well. Returning to just the left pod, it still would not function. I enabled "Noise Cancellation with One AirPod" and "Hey Siri" started working. I will report back if it stops.

EDIT: This did not work long-term as the phone stopped responding to "Hey Siri" with my left bud in. As soon as I removed the bud, the command worked just fine. I apologize for the false hope.

Soo was hoping there was a specific setting to enable this, but it just doesn’t work…. Also when hey siri works, it barely understands.

+1. Several hours of diagnostics over phone -- logs recorded and sent to Apple support -- exchanged original release day set of AirPods Pro (2nd Gen.), and got a 3rd set of AirPods Pro (2nd gen) and a new (replacement) iPhone 14 Pro at Apple Store. Still no luck. Apple Store found problem with iPhone microphone and thought that might be the issue -- no joy! Interesting find though because "ear fit test" on iPhone kept saying it was too loud in my room with nothing on but a fan. Could phone be hearing excessive internal noise and causing ANC to activate and interfere with Hey Siri? Who knows.

However, 1st gens still work as expected. Obviously an unknown problem with 2nd gen.

I think I'll just get a refund, use 1st gen until there's a fix. Don't know how I'll know, but we'll see.

Appears to be fixed with iOS 16.1. Several tests all successful so for in the last hour. Only time will tell.

UPDATE - Back to a no go on this only 10 minutes after initial post. Sorry that we all may have gotten our hopes up!

I’m having the very same issue. Yet when I say Hey Siri into my watch it works.

Never been so disappointed in apple products considering I’ve had system data problems with the 14 pro max and now this.

Impressive how many others has this issue.
I switched from my well working airpods pro 1 gen with no issues. to these airpods 2 gen, all new, and hey siri doesnt work either.
I have tried everything.
1. restartet
2. deleted old airpods from bluetooth
3. disconnected and reconnected
4. disabled all siri settings and enabled them again
5. reset my iphone to factory
I am running iOS 15.7 and am not ready to update for iOS 16.

When i connect my old airpods pro, hey siri works just fine.

I just checked my firmware version and i am on 5A377. I see that there is a newer version which is 5B58.
Maybe i am forced to download ios 16 to get it, because it doesnt update automatically.

What about you guys?

Just wanna say that the latest firmware 5B58 that came out this past week, and it seems to be a bit better. I had to turn off/on 'listen to hey Siri' and redo the voice tests to make it more robust.

I have also been getting this problem since getting the AirPods Pro 2 on launch.

However I have not noticed it in the last two weeks since I set all my devices to connect "When last connected" rather than "Automatically" - my theory was that the AirPods were confused what device they were connected to.

Grasping at straws here!
