Hi all,

I recently got AirPods Pro 2 (USB-C) and went to plug them into my normal USB-C cable and noticed, they aren't taking a charge. Is it because this charger is too powerful? I know the cable is good because I use it on my iPad mini 6 and it charges fine. The AirPods Pro 2 also charge fine with the supplies usb-c cable from Apple.

I want to reduce the number of wires I have and so am hoping I can understand why it won't work with the specific cable and charger.

I use this charger and wire from bestbuy: Insignia - 100W Dual Port USB-C Foldable Compact Wall Charger Kit for MacBook Pro, Smartphone, and Tablet - White

Thanks so much!

it should work, it supports up to 100w, so anything under should be fine.

Does the cable from apple work when plugged into that power brick?

have you tried the other hole in that charger?

also just in case, the airpods case supports optimized charging, so if you're at 80% or so, it may not charge till it thinks you're going to take it off charge soon. It will figure out if you normally leave for work at 7am and take them off charge, and will charge to 80% overnight, and then top up sometime shortly before 7am. I'm not 100% sure if they will have the charging indicator while they're sitting waiting to finish.

as another option. if it makes sense for you, I have a small wireless charging pad where I drop my things by the front door, and I'll pop the case on there when I see the yellow light as take them out of my ears.

I notice these aren't 'Made for iPhone' certified. Whilst this doesn't mean they won't work, I've found from experience the cables/chargers/third party items that aren't MFi certified seem to have a higher incompatibility rate.

Also some third party chargers I've found will only charge certain Apple devices e.g. they might work with iPhone or a MacBook, but won't work with AirPods or Apple Watch.

I think this is just one of those occasions where it won't be compatible.

I assume you've tried a genuine Apple cable with the charger to see if its just the cable?
