Hello.

I often listen to music in bed before going to sleep and then pop my AirPods into the case for overnight charging. Recently what's been happening is the left earbud will charge to 100% but the right stops at 80% and then charges to 100% at some point.

Is this intended behavior for optimized charging or should I investigate this further?

I noticed mine doing this a few days ago. I've only had my Airpods for a few months now. The right earphone was sitting at ~84% charge and I hadn't used it in a while. Definitely long enough for it to have charged to 100%. I assume this is normal and intended behaviour. I mean, it makes sense, right? Optimized Charging says it learns from your routine to decide when to charge up to 100%. That's what it seemed to do because when I actually went to use them and listen to music it had charged to 100%.

It's like how it'd work on your iPhone. If you leave it plugged in overnight and your iPhone knows you wake up at 6AM then it'll charge to ~80% then just before 6AM it'll charge up to 100%

I wouldn't worry about it. If you find that you're using your airpods and they often aren't fully charged or if you notice shorter battery life then maybe take it to Apple to have a look. But yeah I don't think it's anything to be concerned about. Maybe turn off optimized charging to see if it stops them sitting at ~80%.

Just to clarify, was the left still at 100%? And do you always wear them both?
