I've been a user of the standard AirPods 2 for a long time now... but they're just about dead. I'm trying out the AirPods Pro 2, and I'm really liking one thing, but struggling with a few things, and just wondered if I'm the only one...
  • Like (love?): The overall sound and noise cancelling... absolutely incredible how good of a job these do at forming a seal in my ear (for a bit anyway), sounding incredible, and canceling out external noise
  • Struggle: They're just not comfortable in my ears. I've tried the different sizes, and no matter what, they just don't feel great, especially for any extended period of time. It could be that I'm used to years of the no-pressure seating of the standard AirPods, I guess.
  • Struggle: They don't stay in very well. They aren't falling out. But they're not staying very snug. I've tried the other sizes as well. I also think one reason for this is my next struggle...
  • Struggle: The button/control system. I love that there are more control options, but I feel like everything I have to do to control it ever-so-slightly bumps it, causing it to wiggle a bit and not stay in my ear as well. Maybe this is also a familiarity thing as well? But it's been a couple of weeks now and this is still an issue. The double tap didn't do much on the standard AirPods, but it also didn't mess with how they sat in my ear (partially because they didn't need to be snug), and it's just easier to reach up and do a quick double tap vs. reaching up and grabbing/pushing a tiny button, or sliding up/down the tiny volume control thing. But again... maybe over more time I get used to this.
Probably just a "me" thing, but I'm just curiuos if anybody else has had similar issues transitioning to the Pro's. The sound is incredible, and that alone could make it worth it. But the other things are pretty constant annoyances (first world problems...).

To be honest, I've also had this struggle with how "comfortable" they didn't feel at the start.
I'm with you, I tried all the silicon tips, it didn't quite felt right, I tried pushing them more inside my ear, or having them less "tight"

But it seems like just like you, I wasn't used to it. I had some pair of USB C wired AirPods before and they also fit perfect, like any other pair of earbuds I've ever owned, however, yeah then with the AirPods 2 Pro I was like "huh"

But, well now after a month of owning and using them and chaining the silicon tips one last time, I can say it's better.

ALSO I have the theory that this feels especially weird because of the noise cancellation. Like your ears send a "no signal" alert to your brain (if you catch what I mean) and that definitely feels weird because it's like going deaf but not really.

I know my answer is all over the place, so I'll just simplify with a
TLDR; Not sure, I guess it takes time, I changed the tips many times.

I get where you're coming from completely. And I agree. I think some of the weirdness with how it feels is simply because I've spent a LONG time with the standard AirPods which don't seal anything. And while they sit comfortably in my ears and don't really move, they don't seal or feel snug at all.

Just out of curiosity, which tips did you end up settling on?

Haha I ended up with the medium ones.
I went through aaaaall of them, just to come back to the stock ones. The small ones felt good as well but my iPhone said they didn't seal well, so I went back to the medium ones.

@jntdroid I bought the APP2 about 4 months ago and had, from the get go, pronlems with the buds falling out of both ears all the time. I tried every eartip piece in both ears. Turns out different size earholes 😅

went on Amazon and bought xxs, xs, s, m, l & xl silicone and memory foam tips. I’m using medium silicone in right ear and xs memory foam left esr. Headbanging listening to Stratovarius right now in dialysis as I type.

Having the right eartip piece allows me to twist them ‘just so’ they sit properly and don’t dare fall out.

I had the same, problems as you but with my Bose and Sony’s, which sit and gather dust in a drawer.

Quite feankly I find the APP2s stunning.

Thanks for the input. It's sounding like I just need to keep trying and give them some more time. The sound is indeed incredible.

Give memory foam tips a try. Brands such as Comply can be bought online (Amazon) and come in different sizes as well. I believe there is a pack with all 3 sizes. I find they are less itchy than the stock silicone tips they come with and seem to seal better.
