Just bought some days ago a pair of airpods pro 2, ive noticed that the battery of the case is sipping some juice when iddle. I started using them two days ago, listened to music + call for one hour each day, but ive seen instances where the battery dropped 4-6% even after airpods where charged.

So basically im sitting with 80% on the case at the moment. Airpods get to about 86-87% after a hour of use so those seem fine. To wrap it up i used the airpods for 2 hours in a span of two days, case is at 80%. They where only charged once as they where not full when opening

Version is 6b32. I’ve seen many people complain last year and at the begining of this one of heavy battery drains, this doesnt seem that heavy but still my airpods 2 didnt have any drain or sip at all when they were not being used or charging.

Tell me your experiences, specially if you recently bought one

If you just bought them, It's possible they did the software update while they were just sitting there "doing nothing" so that may part of the drain you saw. They'll update themselves when in the case and close to your phone (not sure if phone or case needs to be charging for that to happen)

The AirPods Pro 2 (both lightning and USB-C cases) participate in the find my network. So there will be a small amount of power used for that, but not much. It's the same as an AirTag, whose battery last a year or so.

also, battery level is a little bit art and a little bit science, you read the voltage, and take an educated guess what the charge is. (the higher the % of charge, the higher the voltage coming out) It can take a couple cycles of the battery for the electronics to get themselves calibrated your particular battery. Differences in manufacturing can lead to slight differences in voltage. So even though your case says 80%, it may just be the gauge is reading lower than what's really in there, I would guess apple guesses low, better customer experience to have a battery that says 5% run longer than you think it will, than a battery that dies when reading 10%.

Ah, I was wondering the same thing. I just received my AirPod Pro 2 USB-C (the CostCo deal) the first Pros I've owned and unlike my AirPod 2's the case still stay's active on my Batteries Widget...

Yeah, i understand that translating a battery voltage to a percentage is not only difficult but also custom, each manufacturer has its own way to do it.

The thing is the way the battery is going down seems linear, when it reaches 0% ( or normally 2-5% ish, as at least on my airpods 2 they didnt charge the pods beyond that point) that will be it and will need to be charged again, and giving how things are going, i hardly used 30% of apple’s 30h ( which u understand if it is slighty lower) but i am already at 42% on the case.

It is true that I havent done a full discharge and charge cycle so they may need to be bit calibrated though itwould odd that it would make such a difference, which is probably not going to happen

But what im really trying to deduce, is that if the case id faulty or giving that i have seen many past complaints about battery drain on the case that a possible bug may be affecting it.

Just saw now btw that a new 6b34 update got launched, lets see if that makes a difference.

Also, updates only happen when charging, find my is turned off. Airtags run on a much lower mAh battery (cr2032) and still last about a year. Airpods should “theoretically” consume about the same. If the find my would be the issue they would be consuming 100 times more than an airtag.

Yeah, that is normal, it is a feature, though it only seems active when find my is set on.

If you turn it off they wont be visible.
