So, today I got my AirPods Pro 2.

An upgrade to my AirPods Pro.

I set up with the phone, tried audio quality... all good.
Then, on my m1 iMac, seamlessly switched and listened to some YouTube via safari.

Then, plugged in to charge up.. and left them.

Returned later fully charged... put the AirPods Pro 2 in my ears... and went back to Safari Youtube on the iMac... - the volume icon in the system tray looked like AirPods Max... not the pro.
However, the AirPods were silent. The audio was playing but not coming out anywhere. Switching back to iMac internal speakers fine, but then selecting AirPods Pro 2 they were silent.

Not used to things being non-intuitive like this... I rebooted the iMac... but on restarting still same symptoms.

So, right now the AirPods Pro 2 don't really work with the iMac anymore... (they did briefly)... but seem OK on the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Any ideas?
Perhaps its a firmware update issue - but of course we cant force that anyway.

What OS and version are you running on the iMac?

I would also try to forget them on the iMac and set them up again and see if that fixes it

Monetery 12.6....

Ill try forgetting as you suggest....

So, repaired manually with the iMac and its working....

However the weird thing is that in the bluetooth and audio menu they look like AirPods Pro 2...
but in the system tray the small black icon does not look like the pros, but just some generic over head/ear headphones. Maybe this is because Monterey hasn't been updated and Ventura was supposed to be out by now.

This was reported by other sites and people. I'm sure they will have a .1 release out to support the airpods / fix the icon. The functionality is all available in monterey (i have monterey on 2 computers) so its just an icon issue. That shouldnt matter at all, especially since the bluetooth menu / audio they look like APPs. I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as they work.
