I am new to the pro’s and like them overall. I have them since two days now and notice the right earbud is losing battery quicker than the left one. Is this normal? Is the battery level indicator even reliable? The reason I ask is, sometimes the battery level for both is shown, sometimes I see battery levels for the individual earpieces.
I am confused and unsure if I should return them.

Attached the pictures after using for 3 hours and then after 10 minutes in the charging case.
Makes no sense to me.

A little later, the combined battery level is displayed

If you’re taking a lot of calls then the AirPod with the active mic drains faster than the other. But even then that level of difference in drain seems unusual. Try draining both the AirPods and the case completely and charge it back up to 100%. Also make sure there’s no lint or anything around the charging pins in the case.

Two different devices with different batteries discharge at different rates. Why would anyone be surprised?

If you've owned them for only 2 days, I would use them for another couple of days and see what happens. Ruling out it's just incidental or part of wearing them in (which is something I just made up, I confess, but sounds plausible to me ;)).

If it's really a defect, you have the time to make sure of it within the return window (assuming it's 14 days).

I've noticed this too, more of software/connection issue than really a defect I think.

I actually checked battery levels last night from my iMac. I saw a difference in levels of about 1-2%, which is totally within the expected window. Reconnecting to my iPhone, the combined battery level was displayed, similar to the battery level on my iMac. I don’t know why the iPhone sometimes shows individual levels, sometimes not, but if it shows individual levels, they are different from my iMac. Will monitor further.

I get this sometimes. For some reason, one of them shows ~20% lower. One day, I pulled them out, was listening to them and after 1 hour the left one signalled low battery. I looked and sure enough, it appeared like it had not been charging in the case.

Anyways now - I'm careful to watch the LED on the case when I insert them for charging. The light should flash for each one as they are put in and I'd never paid attention to that before. Happens so infrequently though...

Mostly yes, but you'll get this sometimes. I've found the lower level is usually a false reading.

You should see each pod on the pop-up screen when you take one of them out of the case with lid open. If they're both in the case with lid open, then you'll get an 'average' charge.

It's this average charge that I noticed was lower than expected after short use time, so when I checked each pod's battery, I found one was much lower than the other, but when continuing to use them, they lasted according to the battery of the higher reading Airpod.

This hasn't happened much lately (can't recall the last time), so it's settled down for me at least..
