Hello friend, I am writing to you from Chile, the same thing happens to me, the only way to turn on the airpods is by charging them for a while, then when I put them away, it drains the battery and does not indicate the charge of the case, I think there is a new version this week of ios, if they are not fixed, I will take them to repair, greetings and hopefully there is a solution.
I did a quick check: I fully charged my AirPod Pros and case and let them sit with iPad and iPhone both showing no connection and the case drained 3% two hours. Devices are both on 14.
My case totally dies if I'm actively using the Pros. The case remains charged when the Pods are in the case. I oftentimes get the 'Airpod battery death' sound when the case dies during the day, and if you put the Pods in the case, and try taking them out, they no longer pair up. I wirelessly charge the case every morning now as a result.
