So I have recently got my first ever AirPods and I love them!

Earlier today I was on the central line, at a point where the trains make a deafening squealing sound. I tried the noise cancellation on this and it reduced it to very bearable levels but my left AirPods made some off clicks sounds during the loudest part.

Could this be because they were just trying to deal with unusually loud noise or does that sound like a defect? Not heard the clicking during normal use…

Thanks!

It's a defect and it's not unique to your particular pair. There is a long thread about it here somewhere but Apple has a repair program for parts which are less than 3 years old. https://support.apple.com/airpods-pro-service-program-sound-issues

Thanks, though it says on that page that it only affects ones made before 2020 which I assume mine aren’t as they’re the new USB-C ones?

Popped into the Apple Store and they said bring them in with the box and they’ll just replace them see if a new pair are better….

Are these generation 2 AirPods Pro? If so those don’t have the defect and there might just be something wrong with your particular pair.

Yes they are the Gen2 ones so I will just get them replaced for a new pair next week and see how they get on.
