Just got my Airpods Pro and paired them with my 11 Pro Max.

The Left ear is constantly making a muffled noise when i have noise cancelling or transparency mode turned on.

I first thought it was the ear tip moving in my ear so swapped it for a smaller one, but getting the same issue. I also thought it was my ears but had the wife try them and she got the same thing.

Going to try and repair them to see if its a connection thing, if not ill be off to the Apple Store to get it swapped.

Repaired them and getting the same thing.

Paired to my iPad pro and again getting the same issue.

Looks like a trip to the Apple Store is needed :(

Last thing im going to try is upgrade the firmware on them, apparently there are issues with charging and they need an upgrade so going to do that first. Will report back

Ok good news, the firmware upgrade appears to have fixed them. Will still keep an ear on them though.

If anyone has issues you can do the following :

Make sure you’ve played some music for at least 30s

Put them back into the case

Connect to a charger

Wait 30 minutes with iPhone close by with a data connection

Then try to use the AirPods Again

My airpods are on 2B584 (You can check in Settings>General>About when you have your Earpods connected to your phone.

Thanks for the heads up. I will check mine when I get home tonight for the latest firmware update.

I had exactly the same problem, but firmware update, reset and repair, all did not work.

Another update for me, I still think the left earbud is not working correctly, the noise cancelling is not as good as the right earbud and im still getting the noise every now and again.

Will visit the Apple Store and see what they say.

I’m getting the same muffled sound on the left AirPod Pro when noise cancellation or transparency modes are on. Have the latest firmware. Noticed it on my iPad Pro. iPhone seems fine so far. Keeping a close eye on this.. firmware is 2B584

My left Airpod Pro has a defective clicking mechanism or whatever, I can't get it to register a squeeze at all, but the right one does it just fine. What's worse, the left one starts randomly clicking rapidly every so often. It's like the click mechanism is shorting out. Definitely going to exchange them, but this just sucks. Never had such a huge QC issue with Apple before.

I have this issue on my left pod as well with the latest firmware... it comes and go. first I thought it was the silicon slipping or something. Tried different size and it was the same. If I push the pod in with my finger (like holding it in place) the noise stops? But right now trying it again the issue has not presented itself... so not sure if it’s hardware or software.

Would really like to sort it out before 14 days!

Ok just an update, on Thursday I noticed that the left earbuds noise cancelling was not as “sealed” as the right and was getting a lot of noise through. I had switched from the medium to the small tips the night before. Switching back to medium has solved this issue.

since then I have noticed no issues, I think this is all to do with the fit in the ear. If your having issues trythe next size up of tip and see how you get on (unless you are on large already ofc)

I’ll keep checking this week and see if I still get issues, but so far they have gone

Just had this same thing with a new pair last night and today. Followed this string and did the firmware update but it didn’t fix it. So I called Apple Support today and the first thing they did was ask me to remove the ear buds and put the AirPods in my ears to see if they still made noise. They did not. So, I put the ear buds back on the AirPods and the noise did not return. All fixed! So, you may want to try that. It seems that if they are not attached correctly, it may cause the hissing noise.

Also, although I did not get to this step, you can try resetting the AirPods.

I randomly experience the exact same problem. It’s a hissing sound from left ear.

Same issue here too. It sounds like someone is blowing in my ear or if I was driving and had my window rolled down. I've done everything as mentioned here: AirPods Pro: Muffled sound on left side w/ ANC
I have not tried seeing if listening without the ear tips replicates that sound but I will check after work.

I tried on both without any ear tips and I still here the muffled sound on my left ear piece. At this point I don’t know what else to do
