Hi Guys,

My right side Airpods Pro just fell from a height of 3 feet on my Work Desk which is a wooden Table. Doesn’t look like it has broken or cracked or anything. For the moment it seems to be working, as I can hear the Sound coming from it. But I am concerned would this have by any chance damaged or shaken the internals of the Airpods Pro ? Like The Hardware or Circuitry or something ? How do I convince myself that they have not been damaged and that all the functions of the Airpods Pro are working to its full ability ? And nothing is Compromised ? Any chances of the sensor in the stem of the AirPods Pro to switch to noise cancellation that would have been damaged or something? It is working right now, but what if there is any hidden damage ? Which is not showing at the moment ? How can I convince myself ?

Easy: if you ever start hearing a rattling while ANC or transparency mode is active it exchanged for a new bud. There is absolutely no way of not noticing. Happen to me twice.

otherwise I don’t think you will find any degeneration of sound quality.
Keep enjoying them. :)

How to convince yourself? Depends on how OCD you are I guess
But you could check the microphone as well, do a voice note or something

You got hold of my pulse man ! Exactly this is because of the OCD I have of using the APP :) and that I never cause any damage to them.

I don't want to scare you, but there will always be a chance to damage the sensors / accelerometer from a drop. But that will depend on the angle, surface, and weight.

I've had both model AirPods/Pro for over 2 years at least in various activities. They fall once in a while on wood, marble, concrete flooring - and found no issue to date in terms of battery life and performance. Sound is the same. Connects when needed.

You will know when it doesn't work as expected. And if a reset doesn't fix it, then a trip to the Apple store may be needed.

Here's a scarier story:

As I've kept my old iPhone X to go to my kids, I decided it was time to replace the battery (a second time since this was owned). This phone has only been handled by the Apple store twice before:

- battery replacement
- screen recall (there was a screen issue for first release iPhone X)

So yesterday had an appointment for the second battery replacement. The phone as they can see is in flawless condition. From day 1 it always had a case and glass screen protection.

They come back saying they had to completely replace the phone with a brand new one because they found internal cracks within the screen panel. They can't determine when it happened whether it was from the battery or screen replacement. And because they saw they were the ones that officially did those replacements and the external was flawless, they know they were liable for those damages.

My point is, we all try to take care of our material stuff to the point of OCD. But at the hands of the manufacturer, it takes one bad employee/assembler to not care and report misdeeds that no one may possibly see.

Enjoy the gadget for what it is.

Contrary to popular belief, iPods Pro aren't as delicate as nitroglycerin.

I’ve dropped mine on concrete from more than 3ft. Got scraped up but no issues with sound quality.

If they still work, then they work.

Try listening to songs by Chromatics. If they sound good, there is no internal damage

My dog got a hold of ém (non pro) when he was a pup.
I noticed when i heard a rather odd sounding crunch...?

Long story short, I continued to use them without a problem for another year till i got a Pro (Other than having to seal a crack that was leaking air with driver movement with a tiny bit of adhesive ?)

They still do work as a handy backup when i can’t quickly locate the new ones - although the battery is now on its death bed.

At the risk of stating the obvious, listen to them, if they work and sound ok over extended periods, they’re fine.

Mine have been dropped, thrown, slept on and stood on with monotonous regularly (not deliberately obviously, and not because I don’t try to be careful), but they’ve always survived and worked fine. They seem quite robustly made to me.

I dropped mine on carpet the other day while eating. Audio playback is fine but I noticed something is wrong. Back in October 2020, I sent in the right AirPods Pro for a replacement with the exact same issue.

Stop using them for a few days so that they may recover.

Yesterday I bought my out of warranty AirPods Pro to the Apple Store and the Genius verified that it's eligible for a free replacement. Launch day unit, right side failed after 10 months and left side failed 15 months after purchase.
