Airpods Pro - High Pitched Noise

Is it normal to get a loud high pitched noise (like mic feedback) when trying to adjust the Airpods Pro in your ears. I recently got mine and when I touch them to adjust them or something and either ANC or Transparency are on, I get this which is very loud and annoying. The same happens to everyone?

I had the same happening to me a few times. Only happening when adjusting them in the ear. I suspect it has to do with the ANC or mic that gets squeezed somehow with such a motion. Have to test if it also happens wits ANC off.

Same thing for me. I can recreate it with both AirPods. I have a feeling it is a feedback issue, hopefully they can fix it with a future software update.

I wish more people responded to this. Did all you buy yours directly from Apple? I ask because I got mine on Amazon refurbished from somewhere else and want to make sure it isn't damaged.

For me this only happens on the left side this happens with both ears, no matter where I hold the airpod to adjust it in my ear. I just confirmed it only happens with ANC or transparency mode.

(Edit: originally thought left side only, but now realize it happens in both ears)

For me this only happens on the left side, no matter where I hold the airpod to adjust it in my ear. I just confirmed it only happens with ANC or transparency mode.

Mine were brand new from Apple. Both Airpods will do it if positioned in a specific way.

I’ve been getting feedback when (and for several seconds after) I adjust the L&R AirPods in my ears but it isn’t a high pitched noise necessarily, it’s like a vibrating, almost bass like sound...does anyone else get that?

It does stop eventually but I find it really bothersome because it also occurs when I’m just on a run and they get jostled slightly, or I pull up my hood and it brushes them. Because in those instances I’m not actively doing anything to reposition them, it’s kind of jarring and distracting because if you’re really trying to listen to something.

I bought my pair in person at our Apple store on the day they were originally released (so I know they weren’t previously returned, or refurbished as someone mentioned in an earlier post).

But while Im aware there’s a lot of debate about whether the late December update actually did anything to effect ANC/sound quality generally, I can honestly say I never experienced this particular issue until shortly after that point (which I happened to be aware of because I stumbled across a YouTube post about the fact that there Apple had just released an update for the Pros w/instructions on where to check if your AirPods had that latest firmware—before any of the complaints had come out it—so my experience wasn’t influenced by any of that, this is not something Im just imagining).

Obviously I have no evidence the update caused this issue—but I wondered if anyone else had a similar timeline ie. didn’t have this problem when the Pros first came out?

Mine also started today to have the high pitched noise. Only the Left one. It occurs only in NC and Transparency modes, not in OFF mode. The sound is very loud and it does not stop. Basically cannot use them. I will came back later with updates (if any)..

(They were bought brand new from Apple one day after launching. Now they have 2C54 firmware.)

I cleaned all the earwax out of the one that was giving me the feedback and I think it has stopped making that noise when I move it around.

This happens sometimes when I remove them by NOT taking them out holding the stem. If I actually try to grab the pod in my ear I get that squeal...

I had a high pitch noise too from my airpod pro’s. I called Apple and they sent me a replacement set of AirPods and case. I’m satisfied with this as I’ve heard no silly noises so far.

This just started with my right AirPod pro. It was jarring to say the least. It seems like it’s a pressure thing with the mics; I can recreate it on the left one but it takes more effort (for now). Hoping Apple will replace them relatively fast

I have the same problem now but especially running/sweating with them. Sweat seems to be able to get into the inter mic or outer mic causing a loud hissing in the middle of a run. Seriously going to have to find different headphones to run with.

Had the same issue as everyone on here with the rattle, slight rattle on the right, really bad on the left. I was getting a weird high pitched squeal in the left one every time I adjusted it in my ear and phone calls were traumatic left EarPods would kick out a high pitched squeal when the other end was ringing and hi frequency sounds on calls / music would make the left one squeal. Also the ear tip test failed every time. Took them to the apple store today and they tried them with another iPhone which had the same issues and the questions they were asking were all pointed to the issues mentioned I.E. when did this first begin happening, is it worse outside, is it only with ANC / transparency is turned on, and interestingly enough has the quality of the bass dropped? which might explain that firmware updates had nothing to do with affecting the bass response but it was actually the fault of the hardware degrading over time. anyhoo they've replaced both AirPods and all the issues have gone ? just wondering for how long though and if these ones go the same road will they replace them within a year of this replacement or will that only last until it's a year since I bought the original ones. It's clear from the question asked today that this is a common hardware defect and Apple should look to resolve the fault and offer a replacement program similar to the iPhone 6 battery.

I had the exact issue today, went running sweat a lot and now the right one about blows my ear out every time I try and put it in.
