Airpods pro left not working

Im eyeing up second hand Gen 2 airpods pro, and the guy said that the left one doesn't work. I understand that Gen 2 Airpod pros come with a one year warranty? if this is the case, and the airpod doesnt have any physical damage is it a free replacement or do i pay a fee - and if so how much. (NZD pls)

I think in the US, this would be a free replacement.

I have Gen 1 Airpods and the left one no longer works but it is way out of warranty at this point. Like more than 3 years I think.
