AirPods Pro not magically pairing with MacBook Air

APP pair ok with iPhone 11pro but the image of APP case does not always show on phone. Yet connects ok
However I need to manually click connect on MacBook Air 2018 model when using them with it. Not smooth and seem less
 
For me it depends what device I was using when it comes to seemless pairing. If I’m using them with my iPhone then get on my iMac or iPad, I have to connect to the new device. If I turn off Bluetooth on my iPhone then jump on my iMac or iPad it will pair with whatever device I’m using.. Basically, it will try to pair with whatever device I was using last unless I turn off Bluetooth on that device...
