The only thing I can think of is official MagSafe support for AirPods Pro cases, but Apple stated that all AirPods Pro ordered from today will have MagSafe connection. So I’ll wait for the specs but I don’t think the Gen 3 have anything that the Pro have not (which is logic)

I want the noise cancelling of the pro's, but can't stand silicone in ear design type of airplugs. Should I go for the new AirPods gen 3 then?

Pick your poison. Which is more important to you? Noise cancellation or non in-ear design. Can't have both.

You want ANC but You’re considering choosing Pods that don’t have one?

Have you tried Sony MH, Soundcore oraz Jabra Elite?

Already ordered mine. I've been using iems for years and own some very expensive ones even have a pair of customs. However for all day comfort day after day, especially for wfh and calls, the non-silicone design is more comfortable for me.

I love the AirPods functionality, design, etc. And really like how 2nd Gen fits into my ears. But the price difference is only $25 in Norway, so it doesn't seem right to buy a non pro version with so small difference. But again, can't stand in ear silicone tip. Possible to use pro without the silicone tip?

At that price, unless you really hate the earbuds tips, I'm not sure why you wouldn't go with the airpod pros considering the features and how often the Airpod pros have been going on sale.

As a feckless unemployed wastrel (retired), I no longer need noise cancellation. My first-gen Airpods are getting long in the tooth. This seems like a good upgrade.
Same, my half decade old gen 1 AirPods are dying during half my calls and don't always last a full gym sessions. Went straight to the 3rd Gen to compliment my 14" MBP and iPhone 13 Pro, been a big upgrade year for me.

Is anyone else surprised they still have a 26th October delivery date? I ordered them before the 14" MacBook Pro as I was expecting them to sell out in seconds.

Probably the lack of noise cancellation is putting people off

Pro's fit never suited me, even AirPods I can only wear one moving around, hoping the new ones are better, have ordered to try anyway.

I loved the feel of the original AirPods and how they sat in the ear, and also loved the features of the AirPods Pro, but I couldn't stand the feel of the in ear tips with the Pro (personal preference).

Quite happy with this 3rd gen - keeps the original design for how they sit in the ear, but have dropped in size and have some of the Pro features (spatial audio). Quite looking forward to them.

So it looks like the only difference between the pros and the 3 is noise cancellation and transparency?

These are totally different products and it always surprises me that people insist on comparing them. If you enjoy open AirPods, as I do, nothing with ever replace them for their use cases (casual listening and calls). Sealed in-ears AirPods Pro (and something like Beats Studio Buds) are for when you need to prevent sound leakage and/or need ANC.

For me:
  • AirPods for phone calls, work meetings and casual listening when comfort is preferred (inside/private places)
  • Beats Studio Buds (AirPods Pro never stayed in my ears nor were comfortable) are used out and about when I don’t want others to hear what I’m hearing and for ANC in noisier environments (outside/public places)
  • AirPods Max for movies and tv shows at home and when I really want to listen to my music or for the rare occasion I am commuting (home/traveling)
If you only ever want to have one pair of headphones, something like AirPods Pro or Beats Studio Buds (and the incoming Beats Fit Pro) are likely the best way to go due to their myriad of use cases.

Don’t be so sure. These look quite big compared to Gen1/2. Very curious and on the fence about these. The pros are terribly uncomfortable to me and these look nearly identical minus the ear tips.
