Hey

So I was abit silly today and out my AirPods Pro through the washing machine.. surprisingly they still work but there’s issues.

The worse is it seems the right ear - only when noise cancelling is enabled, when I put them in my ear I get a really loud high pitch ringing (so loud people around me can hear it) so they are pretty much unusable with noise cancelling on.

As it’s only with noise cancelling on I’m assuming it’s something with a microphone, just wondering if anyone has any experience with AirPods and water damage, should hold out any hope of them being ok or bite the bullet and replace them, part of me is tempted to just replace the troublesome right one but at £85 I’m worried just wasting money should the left one fail later on!

Thanks
Marc

The word "today" made me cringe. When electronics get wet, your best hope is to give them a few days with no power running through them to dry out. Now, in the AirPods case, that's problematic as you can't remove their battery.
Still, you could have taken them out of the case and left case and AirPods alone for at least a few days to dry out...and hopefully there would have been no lasting issues.

Me, I'd still try letting them dry out for a few days - then see what lasting impacts there are. They're fairly well sealed - it will take some time for the water that's in them to evaporate.

I know I’m not too sure why I checked them straight away silly I know - have left them in a warm place for last day or so will leave abit longer and see how they are in a few days - hoping they survive although do realise me being impatient may have lessened the chances!

I recently washed mine in the washing machine. left them in the coin pocket of my jeans.

I took them out and placed them on the warm part of my Intel MBP's case between the screen and the Touch Bar. I think the warmth helped dry them out. I put them on the next day and they worked fine. Have continued to work for about 3 weeks so far. Maybe they are fairly well water proof or maybe I got really lucky.

Good luck to you
