I have a weird issue with the right bud. Whenever I touch it to for example adjust the fit, the device produces some weird noise, almost like there's something loose inside it but not really. Shaking it when not in the ear doesn't make any mechanical noise. I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this?

I know there's a replacement program for devices manufactured before October 2020 (I bought mine on October 3, so they're definitely manufactured before October), due to some noise related issue, but the description of that does not seem to match what I'm experiencing.

I have a meeting booked tomorrow at the Apple Store, hoping to just have them replaced, even if they are not considered to fall under the replacement program, since they are still within warranty.

Is it like a high pitched squeak or whistle? If so, mine does that too but I don't recall it making that sound when new. It happens in both ears.

Not sure why it's doing that, I thought I was going deaf...

No not really. It's not like a tone, more like it sounds like it's coming from the housing itself and not a sound produced by the driver. But it's hard to actually check, since I'm not able to hear it as soon as I take it out from the ear regardless.

The Apple support concluded that both buds had issues and replaced them both.

In the ear fit test, the left one has always reported a bad fit regardless of the size of the silicone tip used, but I haven't actually experienced any issues, so I've just ignored it. With these new ones, both report a good fit. ??

I'm fairly sure that initially the fit test passed on both, when they were new. Since I haven't heard anything wrong, my guess is there was something wrong with the microphone that's supposed to pick up the leaking sound.

And yes, it was under that program you linked I got mine replaced.

Got mine replaced under the same today as well. Genius was a little confused since their diagnostic showed they were on different firmware versions... but then they wouldn't have worked together at all.. and they did until randomly this started happening today. Anyway. A quick 'let's wait out the typical upgrade process and then process this replacement as expected' yielded the same results, they weren't able to complete their in-house diagnostic test due to whatever else was going on, but took care of me anyway. Service people mean well and have a process, be patient and understanding (as they are of complaints) and it all works out.

Wow, that's weird. ? It took them maybe five-ten minutes to diagnose mine before the guy came out with a new pair and told me both would be replaces.

I realize now that the new left one sits a bit different in my ear than the old one which never got through the fit test. The old one always kind of created a vacuum/suction sound right when I put it it, which the new one does not.
