Recently I noticed my AirPods remain connected when I remove them from my ears. The audio defaults to the iPhone speaker, but they’re still listed as connected in the Bluetooth settings and if i select them as an audio source, audio still plays through them.

I tried forgetting them in the Bluetooth settings and pairing them again. No luck.

Anyone else have this issue?

I have all kinds of trouble pairing mine. Takes like 3-5 minutes to pair when I go to run in the morning, and then sometimes it stays paired when I’m done with them. This is my 2nd set. :(

I don’t have any issues getting them to pair, just getting them to disconnect when I’m done. Sometimes I swear even putting them in the case doesn’t disconnect them.

same issue ?? staying connected ?
im also seeing where they are draining way too fast on this beta.

Exactly, when i stop the music and I put them in their case, as soon as I close the case the music starts playing again on the speaker cause the AirPods triggered it. I don’t know if it’s a problem with the betas or it’s there on iOS 11.4.1 too.

I might just be misunderstanding you but you are describing how they function. Outside of the case the AirPods are on and paired/pairing with your iOS devices. Ear detection only causes them to transfer sound to and from them and pauses/stops music but doesn't disconnect them from bluetooth.

I get wacky things happening. I have two pair and sometimes even with the case closed they still show connected. or I have had one pair show twice. or only one connects. usually when they really start acting wonky like music won't play through them it is time to reboot the phone. sometimes they cage from pause/play from tapping back to Siri.
