Current model be compatible with wireless charging for next year?

The AirPods will be able to use the Wireless Charging case which Apple will sell separately probably whenever they release the AirPower Pad.

Thank you. Is it possible that they come out with a newer version that will include the mentioned wireless charging case?

If they do, it would likely be around the fall keynote. But given that they're updating the battery case to be compatible with the AirPower, I'm not sure if we will see an update for the AirPods in 2018 or not.

I don't see any reason for them to update the AirPods...People are getting too spoiled in thinking everything will magically be refreshed yearly..

I doubt we’ll see AirPods 2 next year but I don’t see why Apple couldn’t just ship the current AirPods with the wireless case.

100% agree, taking any comfort skin off and on is my only complaint with the AirPod. Plus all w need is a tiny bit more Ron in the lid or base.

Try this hack with some cheap foam earphone covers:

They fit in the case and help with fit and seal (better sound).

Yeah I was at the Apple store today, Sadly for a repair/replacement but I also picked up the AirPods. Said a new wireless case is coming soon.

That is just someone working in retail speculating. If there is any info communicated to employees to say that, then it would have been leaked here already. Plus, they always do their big secret announcements - not let retail employees make them per customer.

I thought Apple officially stated a wireless charging case for the Airpods at the keynote in September, to be released in 2018, presumably alongside their wireless charging pad.

I don't remember that. Maybe I'm wrong.

It's to help sell Airpower (their wireless charging pad).

Yeah I know but that’s the wireless case. The actual air pods don’t need updating

I will buy the air power pad but not sure I will need to put the air pods on charge often

Air power will be great though to put my watch on there as well

Sorry yeah, I just realised what you meant & was about to edit my post.

I also think it's too soon to update the Airpods. Although, if they came out with touch pads on the sides to allow many more tap commands + Bluetooth 5.0 support, I wouldn't complain. :D
