I got AirPods recently and found that when listening to Spotify or any other app that outputs sound, I need to crank the volume to 80-95% in order to have it as loud as wired earbuds set at 50%.

Is this normal with the AirPods?

Bump

I am from the UK and I notice I often have to put the volume to max when listening to music from Apple Music. I don't think items phone because the is a new XS max. It was the same problem when I had the iPhone X.

Is this a common problem? I read that countries in the EU have a volume limit? Is this the problem?

being on a bus every morning and evening for 45 mins, watching a movie or so, I in the end went back to the wired EarPods, as I hardly could hear anything.
The Airpods (1st gen) became so low in volume.

Looked on the web for some tips&tricks, but they do not fix the issue for me.
EU max limit is off, volume full, disconnect en reconnect Airpods with iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, etc, keep one in the box and back in the ear, it all makes no difference.
They were good in the beginning, so guess they are just plain dirty (as it is with all machines).

Anyone any working tip/fix?
I'm about to throw them in the washing machine to see if that helps...

one of the reasons why I am not buying AirPods. I had the 1st gen and felt they were to quiet and I don't even like listening to music. I think its because it doesn't fit my ears very well. I don't get a great seal so sound will obviously leak out. I am looking at the Jabra's Elites but I've heard that they have issues as well
