THis is an interesting problem that i have run into. I am a bellman at a hotel in milwaukee. We recently installed a wireless network in the lobby and hotel rooms throughout the hotel. It is 811B compatible. I have brought my ibook from home before to test it out and it has worked fine for me, but I am running into a problem with it today with a guest.

They have a powerbook g4 running jaguar. THe problem is that they have aol installed on their system. Normally in order to use the wifi in the hotel, one must simply run their browser and it will prompt them to the proper login screen. What happens on this guests computer is that after startup, when I click on IE it automatically starts aol and tries to logon. I have tried editing to create a new aol location, but it never connects.

What I think I must do is prevent aol from starting, but I do not want to uninstall it from his system. Anyhelp would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Fritz

you need to setup a new locatoin within aol. tell it to connect to aol via tcp/ip. then it will look for an alternate internet connection and just connect to the aol network through that.
