Hi,

I bought a 2009 to upgrade from my 2008 8-core. The 2009 doesn't have wifi - will the 2008 card work on the 2009?

Thanks!

Ed

Yes, but I'd recommend picking up a airport card from a 2011 iMac to fit in later, I get consistently better signal strength and speed with using the iMac 3 antenna card vs the mac pros 2 antenna card.

Thanks for that info! Any idea what the model number is for that?

And is it an AC or n card?

I'm tempted to simply plump for this as it's so cheap: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Apple-Air...ther_Computing_Networking&hash=item5d4b154866

They're only 11n, but 3 antenna's mean a theoretical peak of 450Mb/sec versus teh 300Mb/sec of the 2 antennas, assuming your base station also supports it.

It also supports the 5Ghz spectrum by the look of it, which is a bonus.

That said, I can't see anywhere obvious to order it from, or a part number for reference.

I've got one of the cards as per your link, they work fine, but they're "only" dual antenna, and only 2.4Ghz. A PCIe 802.11ac card might be a better option - if you can find one that's compatible.

Some assembly required...
