Since my macbook recently came back from having a faulty Superdrive replaced my airport has been acting strangely.
The university wireless has a whole bunch of authentication hoops to jump through and it normally manages just fine. Recently though, it'll connect, and look like it's authenticated, but it still has a self assigned IP address which means no internet access. Not only that but my fans keep going into overdrive which is something I've noticed happens when an application crashes.
When I check Activity Monitor, it's Airport.
Also since it came back the battery is taking about 5 hours to fully charge where before it would take 2 hours max. I'm dreading if this means the laptop has to go back in for repair a third time, everytime it does I'm without it for at least a month.
And yes, I've tried fixing permissions (it came up clean) and I've done the reset that involves taking the battery out and holding the power button.
I can never seem to get the other kind of reset to work, probably not hitting the right buttons. So if anyone can give an idiots guide on which buttons because they're not labelled exactly what you're told to press.
Any suggestions?
