AirPort Express Basisstation + AirTunes

Hi,

I've got my powerbook hooked up to the internet via Airport Express and can listen to e.g. BBC Radio 4 on Safari (it comes in through a RealPlayer plugin I think).

I'd now like to stream this to 2 stereos - one in the living room, one in the bedroom. If I buy an AirPort Express Basisstation for each stereo will I be able to stream the sound output wirelessly from the powerbook via AirTunes? Or does AirTunes only work for Itunes????

AirTunes is only officially supported by iTunes. However, there is a program you can use to stream music to an airport express from virtually any source. It's called Airfoil.

Theres a program (called AirFoil, i think (dammit, beaten to it)) which allows you to play any audio through AirPort Express. It has about a second delay though, due to encoding, sending, recieving, decoding, and playing though speakers.

By the way, its a base station, not a basisstation

Yes. You will be able to stream to two different Airport Expresses. Not at the same time (unless you get Airfoil).

The number that works for you will depend on your environmental conditions (such as building composition and local radio interference), distance to the remote AirPort Express units, and available network capacity relative to your other usage.
