Hi there. I've got an airport express and a non-Apple wireless router. What I'd like to do is join the AE to my current wireless network, and connect my desktop (with no wireless) to the AE via ethernet. However, when I try to do this, the desktop refuses to recognize the AE. Is what I'm trying to do impossible? Unfortunately I can't use WDS because I'm using a non-Apple router.

What you are trying to do is quite possible. I used to wire my xbox to my AE which was connected via WDS to my WRT54G. Whether your router will work or not I don't know. Have you tried googling your router name + WDS + airport express yet?

WRT54G is the only third-party router that will work, as far as I'm aware. I tried it just for grins with a Netgear but it didn't work.
