Hello,

This week i'm getting my new macbook and i'm going to order a wireless router too so i can use my MB everywhere in my house. On the apple site i saw the airport express. Can that be used as a wireless router too because i don't have an airport extreme base station. If not, are there any other routers which are good in that price category?

Thanks in advance,

Sander

Yes, the airport express is a wireless router.

That said, there are many other wireless routers from other brands that are cheaper and will work just fine (check out Linksys).

Although the Airport Express will be easier to set up for someone who has never set up a wireless network before.

EDIT: Beat by mad jet yet again. ...At least we're on the same page. ;)

Thanks for the advice! I live in the netherlands and those linksys routers are more expensive here than on newegg etc. Here the linksys one will set me back 80 euro's incl shipping and the airport express will cost me 90 euro's incl shipping. Is the linksys better or should i get the express because of it's portability and ease of setup?

Ok then i will get the express. Is it so easy to configure that i can take with me on trips and just plug it into a internet connection/wall in a hotel and have wireless?

Get the Express 'cause it's just so easy to use and configure. iW00t, you can buy separate wireless bridges, if that's what you're after.

Still it is really hard to get a bridge that is also a Bonjour printer share for around A$200.

The Airport is a really good deal no matter how you slice it.
