Hello. I got an Airport express that I recently reseted and after that ethernet got slow as hell on my computer. Im getting 9mbit/s as before I got almost 90mbit/s when I did speed tests on the same computer with the same router and the same cable. tried different computers and different cables but its the same.
Over wi-fi on my laptops and cellphones I get 80-90mbit/s and thats the same result as before I reseted it.

If I use an example, the download speed as for now, I get around 1 mbit/s with cable as before I got almost 14mbit/s downloading files/movies/streaming/steam/Uplay.

With wi-fi its perfect and working as it should.

as I mentioned, I've tried different cables and different computers but still the same.
So you did, my bad.

Is the firmware up to date?

What is your overall setup? Is this acting as your router, or are you connecting it to the main router?

its acting as a router! I'm using an pc, MacBook Pro 2016, MacBook Pro 2011, iPhone 7 plus and an iPhone 6, well not me but thats all the devices using the internet and I've tested the Ethernet on my pc, my MacBook Pro 2011 and my MacBook Pro 2016 and its all the same.

checked the firmware as we speak and its up to date (running version 7.6.9 atm)

Feels like something happened when I reseted the device because it started acting like that right away..wifi as I mentioned works perfectly fine! thats the weird part, shouldn't wifi be broken to if it was the router and not some setting or something like that?

and its locked the speed in some way? feels like it when I never get under 1mbit/s or above, just a steady speed at 1mbit/s downloading something and 9mbit/s when I test the connection with different apps/websites..

It's been a long time since I messed with Airport Utility, but is it possible you have a duplex mismatch (i.e. the AE nailed to 100Mb half duplex)? Years ago, I would see this a lot when devices tried to autonegotiate a 100Mb link.

Usually nailing the devices to 100Mb full duplex would fix it.

I don't know as I haven't used Airport products for quite some time. It appears they may have removed that functionality in version 6.x from my Google search.

You might try resetting it again, maybe something didn't set right last time. It probably wouldn't make it worse.

As I recall, there are two reset options, a hard reset and factory reset. Both involve the reset button. Hard reset retains the last settings, enabling you to restore them, or start fresh. While powered on, press reset for 5 seconds until you see a rapid amber flash on the status light.

Factory reset involves powering it on with the reset button pushed for 6 seconds. I might try this and then manually reconfigure in case something in the settings is corrupt.

Keep in mind, as a router, the Express is a lightweight product. It has 100Mbps ethernet (1Gbps on the Extreme and Time Capsule), and can only manage about half the number of client connections of the big brothers. It is also 802.11n and not AC. if your internet service is >100Mbps, it might be worth considering upgrading to something a bit more capable.

going to try that!

yeah I'm aware of that but I've got 10x the speed before I reseted but yeah, I'm considering buying the extreme instead anyway so if this isn't working I might just order it!
