Airport Express WAN/LAN

Hi guys,

Need a little advice on this. Networking isn't my field of expertise so I'll try and explain as much as I can.

I have a 2012 Airport Express being used on my network to Airplay and to extend the range of my network with a Humax digital TV receiver connected to the LAN port. My main router is a 3tb Time Capsule (the tall one).

I am now thinking of getting a Siliconedust HD Homerun to wirelessly stream TV around the home to the iMac, iPad, iPhone, etc. Could I connect this to the WAN port so it would act like a LAN port and have both devices connected to the network? Or am I going to have to get a new router with 2 LAN ports?

Don’t get that! Instead think of a Tablo. Plus I would seriously consider a newest modern router!

No experience with the HD Homerun thing, but if it is using wireless to stream, you need a solid wireless network that can handle all your devices with a strong signal. For that, as satcomer said, you want a modern, high performance router and/or access points.

Lots to choose from that fit the bill. Amplifi is one of the best options out there for ease of use, ability to add access points as needed, and solid performance. There are plenty of other quality options...but none of them are from 2012. ?

I stream everything to about 6-8 devices over about a 2300 sqft house with no issues using three UBNT Unifi APs access points. Rock solid, never need a reboot or anything. But more to setup/configure...a bit challenging for an average consumer looking for simple configuration, and you would still need a seperate router too.
