Airport Express wireless/wired connect issue. Help??

Hello all (first post).

I have been using an Airport Express through my wireless router to play iTunes on my stereo in my house. Everything was working fine. However, I have recently moved my Xbox to a different room and had to add a wired router onto my wireless one. My iMac is plugged into the new wired router. Now my Airport Express is finding my Wireless network, but my Mac is on a wired router and I can't figure out how my Airport can get iTunes to play?

Heres the setup:

DSL modem -> Wireless Router -> Wired Router -> iMac.

The Airport can see the wireless network, but my iTunes can not see my Airport back through the wired router.

Help please!

you need a network switch in place of the wireless router. looks basically the same on the outside, but with less "smarts" on the inside.

a router is designed to be a "gatekeeper" to the outside world, while a switch is basically just like a power strip**.




** i know it does more traffic handeling and picking which ports things go out on, but this is just basics.

Disable DHCP on your wired router and let the wireless router handle DHCP. This ensures that devices joined to either router will be on the same subnet and be able to "see" each other as the wired router will be acting only as a bridge.

Currently your wired router is creating its own subnet and any devices connected to the wireless router (outside of the subnet) cannot be accessed.
