We have ended our hardwired (via telephone) internet service as we will be moving in 2-3 months time. The neighbour has been kind enough to let us use their wifi connection in the meantime.

I have a Mac Pro 2008, and an Airport Extreme:

Can I hook up the AE to my Mac Pro via ethernet cable, then configure the AE to connect to the neighbours wireless network?

Any advice appreciated. TIA.

Can't see why not, I was doing basically the same thing with an airport express recently, but had it connected to a switch with a few computers on it. And substitute neighbours wifi with my own wifi :)

I tried no luck, As the neighbours router wasn't an Apple router...

I just tried this and it works flawless. I also used an AirPort Express, but this shouldn't matter IMHO. connected the APE to the Mac Pro using an ethernet cable, configured the APE to join the neighbours (NON-Apple) network, done.
