I'm afraid not. The 700MHz iMac G4 was originally launched in 2002 and Airport Extreme came in 2003. That machine will have an original Airport card slot. Apple doesn't make these anymore but you should be able to find one on eBay.

I will warn you that these are fairly expensive now days as like Johnny said, Apple no longer makes these cards so they're going for around $90+/card on eBay.

90...good luck finding one under 120...ive been searching for about a month...

Those cards are so expensive now. If you can snatch one up for 90 you are in luck. Wholesale you are looking at a whooping 150-160 bucks.

Keep checking ebay or amazon for a decently priced original airport card.

I would stay away from USB Wireless adapters for the Mac. The software for them is generally very poorly written and can cause kernel panics. AirPort is the safest way to go wireless.

ALSO

NOTICE: I said $90+ as in $90 or more!!!!

Nope. Only 1 Ghz or higher iMac G4s support Airport Extreme.

I was just wondering if a 1.25 GHz eMac that came with 10.3 would need an original airport or an airport extreme card? 'Cause I have an original airport kicking around but I don't know much to do with it (it came with my G3 iBook that crapped the bed) except for maybe put it in the eMac. Are there different types of cards for desktops and notebooks or are they all made the same?

Thanks.

This is super! Thanks a lot. I'm sad that the eMac can't use the original airport card though. . .

Crap!

Does this mean when the next AirPort (AirPort Supreme, anyone?) comes out it won't work with my iMac G5? That means no streaming the iLife-bundled Front Row interface to my TV :(.

Who knows, but generally it seems Apple doesn't embrace new standards until they are firmly rooted in the market. So I'm sure the 802.11g Airport Extreme will be around for a bit longer.
