Airport freezes on new imac, must turn airport off then on again

I just purchased a new Imac, running 10.4.11 I was able to let it connect to my wi-fi network, but airport constantly freezes when in a program such as safari or even downloading. If I am in safari, the progress bar moves about 1 inch then stops. to continue my internet session i must turn off airport, the turn it back on. It works for a few more min then will freeze again. Any ideas. I have other units on the network and have no issues.

How old is your router/modem? If either are a couple years old you may need to replace them. I doubt it is the airport card in your new iMac but its a possibility.

I have a new modem and New Dlink "N" router. I am going to switch out the router with another brand and see if that solves the issue. It wouldn't be the first time Dlink was the problem, Not sure how nice they play with mac.
