Hi everone.. ok this is probably a dumb question but I can't figure out what happened. I tried looking it up but I don't seem to find it. My icon for airport that is usually at the top of the screen next to the clock and the blue tooth, and the sound icon, ect... well the airport one is gone. I can't get onlinet through it either but I think thats the cable company's fault. I can print so the airport seems to be working. Does that icon disappear when there is no internet connection or what? usually I can see how many bars it has or whatever but is that icon only for internet? When I have it turned off it is usually still there just blank, now its gone all togeher.

I believe that in the network prefs you can choose to have the airport icon in the menu bar or not. just like the international settings. as to your not being able to get on the internet useing the AP card or base station i would imagine you are right due to the fact you are still able to print.

Lost and Found...

System Preferences --> Network Preferences --> Show: Airport

Down at the bottom of the box there's a check mark to show/hide the Airport status in the menu bar. Try toggling it.

Incidentally, if you select "By Default Join: Preferred Networks", it will give you a list of all the network names you've ever joined. Fun!

MaxFixIt.com has documented this as one of the more common problems affecting 10.4.3 users. Another big one is the loss of Mac Help functionality. My Airport Extreme (dialup) has been fine, but it appears my Mac Help is pooched. Their recommendation to purge the Help cache files and .plist files has not worked for me.
