I live in a large 3-story house, and my wireless router is in the basement. When I go on the 3rd floor or outside, I get a very weak signal. My iMac is on the 2nd floor, and receives internet fine. I was wondering, is it possible to use my iMac as a router so I can connect to it with my iPod Touch or laptop?

So far as I know, the mac can't be used as a repeater (which would extend the range) - at least it wasn't possible when i looked into it ages back.

What you could possibly do though is add a USB wireless card. With that, you can use two wireless networks at once - one connects to the router in the basement and has the internet connection, the other creates an ad-hoc wireless network on another channel. It's then possible to use the imac as a router, sharing the internet connection with the second network - I guess you can just use internet sharing to do it, but i've not tried it.
