Hey all!

Long time reader, first time poster!

I am having issues with my AirPort card in my 2008 iMac. When I first turn the computer on or turn AirPort on, it works and connects for about 5 minutes and then drops out, doesn't connect to networks, continually times out and repeatedly asks for re-entry of the password which is correct.

I have scoured the internet for some solutions but I haven't come to anything positive yet so if anyone could provide me with a golden bullet to fix it please let me know!

So far...

- Using iStats I have found that resting temp of my AirPort card is around 37° and will connect fine until it reaches around 55°
-I cannot reset my PRAM because of some old Aluminium Keyboard issue and I don't have another I can substitute it with at the moment. On the same note, I haven't set a Firmware Password so that shouldn't come into it I believe.
-My girlfriends AirPort works well (hence I am posting this thread) so there are no network issues
-Genius Bar suggested I make a new location on network settings (this hasn't worked) and try making a new user account (again - this hasn't worked)

There are only two things I can think of right now. The first is that I do need to reset my PRAM and will nick a keyboard from work to do it.

The second I am not too sure about. I reformatted my computer with Leopard then put Snow Leopard on afterwards. The install of Snow Leopard didn't work because I have a faulty disc so I downloaded it and installed from an external drive. I suppose there is the possibility of it not setting up the AirPort card correctly...?

I'm planning to take it to the Apple Store if I am still struggling...I don't want to carry my 24" iMac on the bus so I want to try and fix it am home first!

Thanks!

Edit - iMac 8,1 v10.6.1, 4gb Ram, 800 MHz DDR2, Snow Leopard,
