[title] is a complete joke. Perhaps I have a defective Air, but after 5 minutes of any kind of video it reduces to spitting about one measly frame per second. Any format causes this; 5 minutes of youtube, iTunes movies (lo-def FYI), random files in VLC [ad practical infinitum]...

But the worst offenders are anything web-based. E.g. this gruelling 480p video: moourl.com/Narut0 . Ironically, the clip played smoother for me under Google Chrome in Parallels virtualisation - anyone else seeing this?

Don't get me wrong though, I love my Air (an ageing Rev A *cry*), and think it's a fantastic machine. Just seems borderline defective in the video respect.

Take those air's back to Apple. I have a RevA Air and it never gets too hot to touch, and never locks up playing flash video.

Only way I can see a non-defective Air exhibiting that behaviour is if you have the computer on a non-flat surface like on a pillow or blanket blocking the air vents...

my Rev A is one of the many flawed ones, but your situation does seem extreme. Mine has improved with the software updates. I can usually watch a limited number of video items at a time without problems.

I used to get core shutdowns very easily. Doesn't happen so much anymore. I still consider mine a great laptop with huge flaws. Rev B for me.... soon.
