So I’ve got a bit of a setup going on. I keep my cards in a wallet that also has a keychain with an AirTag attached. I like the feeling of only having to bring my wallchain (wallet-keychain) and phone in the morning, instead of keychain, wallet and phone. But I've been noticing lately that there’s a slight delay when I use tap to pay. Sometimes I even have to reposition the wallet or try again before it works. The grocerystoreworker at my local Meny said, after inspecting my setup, it could be my AirTag trying to send requests to their payment system at the same time as my debit card. It also happens at other stores like Rema 1000 and Elkjøp.

I've also tried using the wallchain without the AirTag, and there are no delay issues with the other cards that might have some kind of NFC/RFID signal interaction.

Could the AirTag be interfering with the NFC signal on the card/POS-system? Has anyone else run into something like this?

AirTags have an NFC chip inside them, so it certainly seems plausible that it's confusing the payment reader.

(If you hold the top of your iPhone near the white side of the AirTag, a 'Website NFC Tag' notification should appear.)
