Just as the title states, I updated to iOS 15 a while ago and now when opening the Find My app, my AirTags don't show up. It's not that the location isn't showing, they just don't show up as if I had never added them to my account. Bringing the AirTag close to the phone doesn't trigger any pop-up or notification either.

Edit: Rebooting my phone didn't do anything.

If you have a device that still has iOS 14 on it you can remove them and then re-add them using iOS 15. That's the only way I could even find them to remove them from my account.

This happened to me as well. Remove the battery and reinsert it until you hear a sound. Donor four times and your phone should recognize it again.

I’m having the same issue. I have rebooted my phone. Reset my AirTags, but right when it recognizes the airtag it says it cannot connect because it’s not in range or Bluetooth is off, when Bluetooth is on and the AirTags are right next to my phone.

Same here. Tried iPhone off and on. Did the AirTag reset process and still no joy. It's detected...I select the location of the AirTag (e.g. Keys, Wallet), prompts for personal details .... then failed to connect - check BlueTooth.

I have an iPad on iOS 14 and removed them and this didn't work either.

Any ideas?

Turn location services and Bluetooth off. Reboot the phone. Do the AirTag reset again. Turn the phone on. Try to pair it again.

Taking off the battery on one of them and putting it back in made my iPhone detect all of them again. My iPad would not detect them but a reboot after that process fixed it.

I forgot the step that finally worked after I removed the airtags using iOS 14. I backed up my iOS 15 iPhone, wiped it, and restored the backup. That must have cleared something because I was able to add all 4 of my airtags where I wasn't able to before.

I’m glad you got yours back. I tried taking out the batteries of two of them several times but still no luck. Luckily I have a device still running iOS 14, so I can track them there. Instead of removing them from the app and re-pairing them, I think I’ll just wait to see if Apple comes out with an update (and probably keep removing the battery every once in a while to see if it randomly works). Especially since I have some AirTags in items that I don’t have readily available (storage) and won’t be nearby for a while.

Still no luck, but I did notice that my iCloud Keychain appears as “off” in my Settings > iCloud section. This is strange because it was ”on” before the update and I never proactively turned it off. I also can’t get it to toggle to “on“ no matter how many times I try. Very buggy…

Just checked it and it is the same on my iPhone.
Can't turn keychain access on again. Just get the spinning wheel for a while and then it is off again.

I was able to solve the iCloud keychain issue by signing out of iCloud completely, and then signing back in again. This still didn’t seem to solve my AirTags issue though…

Edit: iCloud Keychain turned its self “off” again after a reboot of the iPad… o_O

Signing out and back in to iCloud did not help to solve my issue.
I just finally got through a full erase and restore of my iPad and it seems to have finally solved my issues! It was very tedious, but I recommend it if nothing else has worked so far. You may want to try just doing a Reset All Settings if you don’t want to dive into the deep end of a full erase and restore. But that process can be (less but still) destructive as well. Good luck!

How often does this happen to someone with Airtags?
Is it happening to everyone?

I have 8 AirTags.…
I have not yet upgraded to iOS 15 On my iPhone 12 Pro Max.

To be proactive, it sounds like I should:
- Remove the AirTags from my iPhone running iOS 14.8
- Upgrade to iOS 15
- Backup iOS 15 iPhone to my MBP
- Hard reset the iPhone 15 aka “wipe it” - erase everything from that option in Settings
- Restore from backup

Then, individually re-add the AirTags.

Right @bhodinut?

Yup. I tried everything when I put the RC on my phone. Finally wiping and reinstalling my backup to the phone allowed me to re-add the AirTags without that Bluetooth error. Had to do the same thing on my AW6 to get the Find Items and Find Devices to work properly. Re-Pairing fixed that as well.

OMG.

How did you backup your Apple Watch before the restore?
:: head scratch ::
I admit I have never backed up my Apple Watch.

OK I Google'd... Looks like it happens invisibly.

Right?

So you unpaired your Apple Watch from old phone then re-paired with new phone after all the work above ?

@bhodinut

DONE: Removed 8 AirTags from my iPhone running iOS 14.8
DONE: Upgraded to iOS 15
Now... Backing up iOS 15 iPhone to my MBP

Next: Hard reset the iPhone 15 aka “wipe it” - erase everything from that option in Settings
Next: Restore from backup

After back up completes, could I simply re-add my 8 AirTags?
(without doing the hard reset and restore?)

If that works, then I shouldn't need to do the hard reset, right?

That sounds right to me
