Does anyone think airtime will be an open standard or maybe someone will be able to hack it into something more useful? At the moment it seems to be for streaming itunes content from an iOS device to the apple tv (with speculation that it will allow streaming of iOS apps to the apple tv in the future) but do you reckon the transfer protocol is there to be able to stream stuff from your mac to the apple tv?
I'm deciding between a WD TV Live or an apple tv. I'm guessing that in the not to distant future it will be possible to get stream content from my nas to atv via a hack but if you can use airtime to stream content directly from my mac, that seals it for me. Imagine going to tvcatchup.com and streaming tv content or bbciplayer and having it easily play on the tv.
I doubt apple will allow it but if there is a protocol for delivering content wirelessly to the atv, surely someone will figure out how to take advantage of it?!
