AirTunes and iPad

Steve talked about allowing you to stream media content from an apple TV to an iPad with iOS4.2 Does anybody know if with iOS 4.2 you are going to be able to stream media content from your iTunes on your desktop or laptop to your ipad?

That would be nice cause many times I have my iPad or iPhone in bed with me and if I want to watch something on my iTunes my only option is to sync it.

Any thoughts?

Airplay is going to stream from your iOS device to your apple TV http://www.apple.com/appletv/#remote

If you want to stream from iTunes to your iPad then you should use Air Video. http://is.gd/eUb7u

Works great and I can stream from anywhere. I don't have to be on my home network to use it. Worth the $3. I use it on the treadmill at the gym over 3G to my iPhone 4. (I'm grandfathered into unlimited data )

Yeah, it doesn’t look like AirPlay does that. It’s almost like they took one of the iPad’s (and iPhone’s) top requested features and reversed it.

I don’t think there was a large group of people clamoring for iPad to Apple TV streaming.

I really hope AirPlay is not the Wi-fi syncing Jobs alluded to in his email reply.
