Can anyone recommend for me an app that will:

1. Let me use my own music to wake up to
2. Let me totally disable snooze (not required, but ideal)
3. Work even if the phone is silenced AND the app is running in the background

I'd be willing to pay a decent amount for an app that reliably worked and did those things.

Nightstand Central for 99c it is an awesome deal that anyone would choose plus it does all that you wanted it to.

I have it currently, and like it a lot, but if it is running in the background and the phone is silenced it doesn't make any noise. I'm hoping for something that makes noise no matter what, just in case.

If you tap on te section called background alarms it will send it to you as a push notification. If you do that it should work in te background u just tested it out and it works fine.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but if it's not open and the phone is silenced, I get a notification telling me it's going off, but there's no noise.

I like the idea of [app]Nightstand Central[/app], but I actually never keep the screen on when I sleep, so I stick with [app]Alarm Clock Pro[/app], and I have that on set to play one of my playlists. Works well for me. Just testing it's ability to go off in silent mode.... and it does go off... however you've got to make sure the volume is cranked up. When the alarm goes off, you have the choice of stopping it or snooze.

+1 for Alarm Clock Pro. I bought it after the Daylight Savings Time bug. Works great.
