Greetings

I have been fruitlessly searching for an alarm clock application for my Mac. But not just any alarm clock application! One that integrates with iTunes and plays only one track before automatically stopping.

Why? I have obtained an excellent set of "wake up messages" voiced by none other than Stephen Fry, and all the apps I have tried so far just keep playing through the playlist of messages I have set up in iTunes. I want an app that will play only one track before automatically stopping.

If anyone has found something like this, a link would be muchly appreciated :)

Most alarm clock apps for mac have an option to play a specific playlist ("Awaken" and "iSleep" come to mind). I would recommend just making a playlist that contains only the 1 song that you want to hear.

Or if you want it to be different each time, create a smart playlist that only picks the songs you want and have it automatically limit to 1 item, with "Live updating" enabled.

Good luck!

could you name such an app? i've been looking for this. one that syncs with itunes sounds cool. thanks!

There's 70-odd tracks I want it to make a random selection from, so the 1 track playlist idea is a bit impractical. A 1-track, live updating smart playlist doesn't seem to randomly choose a new song each time the playlist is opened, so that won't work either. Thanks for the reply though.

Ah, I have thought of a solution! Make a smart playlist automatically selecting the tracks by the artist I want, automatically selecting them by least recently played, 1 track at a time.

Edit:

Have you tried Alarm Clock 2?

I think it does what you want... (?) :)

I had already tried that one, and by itself it didn't. However in combination with my new smart playlist it should work fine. Thanks

i never thought to even use an alarm app. boy do i love the mac :)

I find the alarm very handy...much more so than using Mail or Outlook!

Reminders when eBay auctions are about to end, when my meatloaf is done, and to remind me when my weekly servicing of the wife is due! :D

Wow. Talk about lack of spontaneity.

Since the Good Morning Sir alarm clock has been discontinued, I have been searching for mp3 files of the wake up messages voiced by Stephen Fry. I'd prefer the Good Morning Madam phrase but I'll take what I can get at this point. Where did you obtain your set?? Or would you be willing to share or sell a copy? TIA!
