I was wondering if there was a folder containing the album art in itunes. I want to be able to put them into iphoto or photoshop. thanks

Unfortunately the album art is embedded in the ID3 tag of each song and is not contained in a separate folder.
A quick search revealed this, it'll do what you want but at a price ($10).
Or you can go to this website and search for the album covers yourself.

BTW if you use third party apps with iTunes, many of them do create a separate folder for album art. For example Synergy stores them at Library/Application Support/Synergy/Album Covers.
