Ok so i have about 6,000 songs all with artwork on my 5g iPod. They all show up on iTunes but not on the iPod. I have the display art wok checked on the music box.

ALSO, this is weird. The artwork plays in itunes from my hardrive but when put on the iPod the artwork is gone and i have to re add it. Any suggestions. Any one else having this problem. Is it bug or my computer. this iTunes 7 kinda sucks.

I'm having exactly the same problem. PowerBook G4 and 5G iPod 60gb. Anyone found out how to fix it?:(
I love the other modifications, though! iTunes is much better.

Also, does anyone know how much space an album art cover takes up?

I was having the same issue and the member Loge posted a tip that worked for me:

Under the music settings for the iPod you need to uncheck "Display album art on your iPod" and click Apply, and then check it again and click Apply. Then the album art is "optimized" and new album art is copied over.

Thanks for that. Tried it, but to no avail.:(
Do you have a link to that thread? I'm wondering if there's anything in there that could be of use.

Is the new iTunes 7.0 album art supposed to display on the iPod?

iTunes 7.0 downloads the album art (on your computer) into a subfolder of your iTunes folder called "Album Art".

Unless things have changed a lot, the iPod only displays album art that's been embedded into the each music file. I don't see a process in iTunes where the new album art gets merged into the music...

Just adding my experience to this thread so hopefully someone can come up with a solution...

I just got my iPod (60gb, grrr!) and I've been slowly adding my music to it, complete with cover art. I copied all my A's, and the art showed fine. Then I updated to iTunes 7 and iPod 1.2. Then I added my B's, and the art didn't show.

So I did the thing listed above (uncheck and check the box, etc) and now I don't have any art :p but it still shows up when I view my iPod in iTunes.

Should also note that until now I've been dragging MP3s straight onto the iPod, not through the iTunes library. Although trying the latter method doesn't solve it either (it copies the song but the artwork is missing).

I was having problems, but it all seems to be OK now.

I'm not sure what I did, but it started working eventually. I think persistance must be the key!

Thanks for the thread link.

Hmm, after having a dig around in some of the albums on my iPod it seems that it has to do with how long it's been in iTunes (i.e. the version of iTunes in which it was encoded with).
For example:
I have some albums I put onto iTunes when I first got the computer (iTunes 4.1) and the artwork doesn't show.
I then tried an album that I bought about four months ago (iTunes 6.0.4) and the artwork doesn't show.
I then tried my most recently uploaded couple of albums (iTunes 6.0.5) and it does work.

How strange!

Missisng artwork

I had a similar problem i found that adding the artwork more than once and disconnecting the ipod then reconnecting it and syncing worked hope it works for you to
