So I've found out how to change my ring tone to anything I like but I also want new text message and new email tones to be what I've always had. .m4r doesn't work so what extension should I be using?

I don’t know if it’s an iPhone 15 thing or a iOS 17 thing but I’ve tried everything. Ring tone is fine, tones I’ve used for SMS and email just won’t show up

I didn’t. Apple released an update to ios17 that put the option to add your own tone back.

IOS 17.0.2 has the issue where custom text tones are not fixed yet. According to this thread, it may be fixed when 17.1 is released. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/missing-custom-tones-in-ios-17-merged.2401357/

I’m on the beta for 17.1. It’s a weird thing for Apple to miss
